At Helping Hands, we offer compassionate, nursing-led Parkinson’s care in the comfort of your own home. Whilst we know that there is no recognised cure for Parkinson’s, the main purpose of a Parkinson’s carer is to help slow down the progression of your symptoms and allow you to manage them.
Parkinson’s care also focuses on supporting the physical, practical and emotional needs of the customer and the wider family. Parkinson’s is a condition that can impact mental health, often in the form of anxiety or depression, which is why we adopt a truly holistic approach to the support that we provide.

Hospital at home
Hospital at home care, provides a more intensive or complex level of care for acute conditions that would typically require the use of a hospital bed. The care is managed and delivered from the clients home, usually a short period of time (between 1 to 14 days) this is carried out be the multidisciplinary team of healthcare staff. This care eases the pressure on hospital beds.

Our services including making family doctors appointments with out approved suppliers, we can accompany you to the clinic or hospital.

Pet care
Our comprehensive pet care services accommodate short-term and long -term client needs, all staff are trained in this area.

Blood taking – venepuncture
We can provide you with having blood taken and sent to the lab in the comfort of your own home, without having to trvel to a clinic.

Medical equipment- sales and hire.
We can provide medical equipment for rental or buy, from hospital beds to blood pressure equipment.

Care package holidays
If you are a traveller with mobility limitations, elderly, or have specific needs, arranging a vacation abroad can be scary for you, let us plan your holiday, form villa rental, airport pick up, care for the duration of your stay and of course help going out and about in Portugal.

How soon are services set up?
As soon as the free assessment is carried out, we ail to provide care within 24 hours, subject to signing the SLA.
How do we pay for services?
We accept bank transfers and credit card payments ( subject to fee)
How do we cancel the services provided?
We ask for 4 weeks notice to cancel services, should the client go into hospital we aim to cancel services with 24 hours, this also applies if the client passes away.
What if I need to make a complaint?
In the first instance you should call us on 913 704 748. We aim to have your complaint fully investigated and offer you the outcome within 14 days. For serious complaints we may suspend staff from caring for you.
Will I have the same staff all the time?
Yes we aim to provide the same named staff member for you, this is subject to sickness and holidays..
How to you vet your staff?
We carryout a rigorous employment check. This includes:
- Previous employment, Police check, 2 refences from past employers, health clearance, training and up to date certificates. We will then train them about our policies and standards
What areas do you cover?
We cover all of Portugal, some areas of Spain
How is the assessment carried out?
It will be carried out by a trained member of the management team, they will asses your needs, health and safety risks
Will my insurance cover home and nursing care?
Most insurance companies don’t cover this area of health care, but you should speak to them to confirm this.
